AlphaPlot was created as a fork to test new ideas with an improved user interface, changing major underlying libraries and scripting capabilities with code modernization (QT5) and to enhance plotting capabilities. The QtiPlot development was initiated in 2004 by Ion Vasilief. The AlphaPlot project started as a fork of SciDAVis which is a fork of QtiPlot with the aim of introducing some changes in design as well as project structure. Another key point for the AlphaPlot project is to be a multi-system software, it should work on Windows, Linux, and OS-X systems. The GUI of the application uses the Qt5 toolkit.ĪlphaPlot aims to be a tool for analysis and graphical representation of data, allowing powerful mathematical treatment and visualization of scientific data while keeping a user-friendly graphical user interface. Note windows support in-place evaluation of mathematical expressions or an optional scripting interface to QtScript. The plots can be exported to several bitmap formats, PDF or SVG. Curve fitting can be performed with user-defined or built-in linear and nonlinear functions, including multi-peak fitting, based on the GNU Scientific Library.
